Lecturer
Chinese (FLC)

Before joining the University of Exeter, I held various roles in journalism, digital media project management, research, and lecturing in both the UK and China.

As the Principal Investigator, I led the research project titled 'Film Co-Production as Soft Power between the UK and China' (2018-2021), which was funded by the Leverhulme Trust. This project explores the role of film co-productions in advancing soft power, defined as a nation's capacity to achieve objectives through attraction.

Key outputs from this project include two journal articles published in Translational Screens and The Hague Journal of Diplomacy, a special issue on ‘Critical Trends in Transitional Cinema: inter-Asian projects and exchanges’, and a book published with Routledge titled South and East Asian Cinemas Across Borders: Critical Trends in Transnational Cinema.

Currently, my research endeavors are concentrated on a monograph for Routledge titled 'Making Film with China', alongside essays that further explore the policies and practices of transnational screens.

I am an active member of the International Association for Media and Communication Research and the International Communication Association. Additionally, I serve as a reviewer for various international conferences and peer-reviewed journals, including Pacific Affairs and the International Journal of Urban Policy and Planning.
